A Kurt Bestor Christmas

Funny Story: So Rachel won these Kurt Bestor Christmas Concert tickets on the radio, which is amazing because 1. who actually calls in for those things and 2. Who actually wins those things? But somehow she pulled it off and got these tickets. Unfortunately for her, a couple of days before the concert, she realized that she and Brad wouldn't be able to make it... So Taylor and I did them a favor and took the tickets off their hands. :) We had no idea who Kurt Bestor was and had no idea what to expect from the concert, but hey, we figured it was a free date! We drove down to Salt Lake and as you can see, we had great seats! Walking in to the concert we knew we were in for a treat because we were at least 20 years younger than the average person there! It ended up being a nice concert and it was a fun way to get into the holiday spirit. Thanks Brad and Rach!

After the concert we took the chance to walk around and see the lights on temple square. This picture doesn't even begin to convey how pretty it was, OR how cold it was. We didn't stay too long, but it was fun to walk around and see the lights. We made it back that night just in time to attend our ward Christmas party for a free dinner. It was a pretty impressive date for a pretty impressive price: FREE!

Cute AND Smart!

This year has been a busy one for Taylor. He's finishing up his last year of undergrad, working part time, studying for all the tests he needs to take for grad school and still finding time to be a great husband. He took the GRE in September and did awesome on it. So good in fact, the mechanical engineering department at BYU has pretty much guaranteed his acceptance. For most people, that would be good enough, but not Taylor. He's decided that he not only wants to get a masters in ME, but he might as well get a masters in business at the same time! A couple of schools (Including BYU and U of U) offer a dual masters program that only takes 3 years and having the dual degree significantly increases your chances of getting a job after you graduate. So, that meant that Taylor had to study his brains out once more to get ready to take the GMAT for applying to the business school. After a month of studying like crazy, he finally took the GMAT this week. No surprise here, but he killed it! He beat the average for both the U of U and BYU programs by 40 points! We went to a dinner the other day for prospective U of U grad students and it was fun to watch the program directors drool over him when he told them what he got on the GMAT and GRE. :) Now the next step is applying to schools and waiting to see who is smart enough to accept my brilliant husband!

Christmas is in the air

Christmas is my favorite time of year. Even though I hate the cold, I really love snow and I just think the world looks nicer with Christmas lights decorating everything. We've
been really busy since Thanksgiving so we finally had the chance to decorate our tree and put up some of our other Christmas decorations yesterday. Here's our cute little tree, it makes our living room feel so Christmasy!

Rachel and Brad also came over for their weekly Sunday dinner. I made tortilla soup and then we decorated gingerbread houses. Rach had the brilliant idea of buying halloween gingerbread houses when they were on clearance after halloween. So even though the gingerbread was staler than cardboard, we had fun decorating the houses.
Notice the coconut wreath and christmas tree. Taylor actually cut a star out of a gumdrop!
Next week: Christmas baking!

Hello World, Thanksgiving

Due to popular demand and a lot of peer pressure (thanks Rachel and Amber...) I'm finally starting a blog. I can't promise that the posts will be exciting or even interesting, but if you have any major complaints, feel free to take them up with my sisters. :)

As for recent events, we celebrated thanksgiving up in Rexburg this weekend. Taylor's sister Aubrie, her husband Jedi and two kids live up there. We spent a lot of time eating and watching football, which counts as a very successful Thanksgiving in my book. I even got to go black Friday shopping with my aunt Cindy and the Richardson girls. They definitely had more stamina than me and probably would have been out much later if I hadn't wimped out at 5am. Maybe with increased training I'll eventually be able to keep up with the marathon shoppers! I got some great deals though and a good start on my Christmas shopping. Now it's back to the grind until Christmas Break!
